During & After Treatment
Oncology Massage in Avon, CT
Oncology massage in Avon, CT with Xiomara Rivera, LMT: gentle massage adapted for people during and after cancer treatment.
Oncology massage is massage adapted for people who have or have had cancer. I've taken classes in it, and I'm now welcoming clients. Each session is gentle and unhurried, and it's shaped around your treatment and how you're feeling that day. If you or someone you love is going through treatment, please reach out. Check with your care team first, and then we'll talk through what feels right for you.
Who oncology massage is for
- People going through cancer treatment, with their care team's approval
- People who have finished treatment and want gentle, hands-on care, with their care team's approval
- Anyone who wants rest and comfort rather than deep pressure
Is massage safe during treatment?
That depends on you and your treatment, so there isn't one answer for everyone. Your care team knows your situation, so please ask them first. Their guidance sets the boundaries for any massage.
Talk to me first
Before a first session, call or text me and tell me where you are in treatment and anything your care team has told you. That conversation is how I plan the session around you.
What I adjust
Pressure stays light, and you're positioned so you're comfortable and supported, with extra care around ports, surgery sites, and tender areas. You stay modestly draped, and you can change position, ask for less, or stop at any point.
Afterwards
Get up slowly, take some water, and give yourself a few unrushed minutes. If anything feels off later, tell me and let your care team know.
